The NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Las Vegas, NV Branch 2502 President Glenn Norton on Jan. 15, 2024. He was 65 years old.
Brother Norton served as Branch 2502 President for 17 years, the longest any individual has held the office. He had previously served as a shop steward and Branch Vice President. Glenn's commitment to the labor movement also extended to his 16 years on the board of Nevada AFL-CIO, where he earned the distinction of being the longest-serving board member.
Glenn, a military veteran, was a schoolteacher prior to becoming a letter carrier. He delivered mail for over 30 years and continued to advocate for his fellow letter carriers as a dedicated and effective leader following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Darlene, his daughter Corey, son-in-law Jonathan Guerin, and his two grandchildren. “On behalf of NALC, I send my condolences to Brother Norton’s family, friends and colleagues,” NALC President Brian Renfroe said. “I am proud to have worked alongside Glenn for many years. A true asset to his branch and the wider labor movement, he will be remembered as a tireless defender of workers’ rights. The NALC is grateful for his decades of commitment, service, and leadership. He will be greatly missed.”
